Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) held its “SIT Poster Day” on 18 September 2024, spotlighting year 3 students from the Marina Engineering, Naval Architecture, and Offshore Engineering (MNO) degree programs. Their Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP) showcased a dedication to innovation and sustainability.

Our Marine Engineer Intern, Ho Soo Jie, presented an innovative concept on an energy conversion system. Under the guidance of his mentor, Senior HVAC Engineer Heng Yih, Ho Soo Jie laid out his ideas and concepts through detailed discussions, visual aids, and a demonstration, conveying the intricacies and potential of converting waste heat into power.

Talent Acquisition Manager Michael Lam, who attended the event, remarked, “The students’ active pursuit of efficiency improvements reflects a commitment to real-world problem-solving. Their projects weren’t just solutions; they represented strides towards a more effective and sustainable future.”

The event highlighted an industry-wide shift towards greener initiatives, demonstrating the students’ problem-solving skills and capacity for innovation. Each project hinted at a future where these ideas could evolve into industry-transforming products and services.
