#CSR

In the spirit of celebrating World Ocean Day, Yinson Production Miri sponsored and participated in the retrieval of ghost nets at Batu Belais, a pristine dive site within the Miri-Sibuti Coral Reefs National Park. Our dedicated team of divers, alongside volunteers from Miri Divers, Sarawak Forestry Corporation, and Brunei Jolly Roger Diving, worked tirelessly to retrieve 50 kilograms of ghost nets from the depths of the sea.

This initiative is part of Yinson Production Miri’s ongoing commitment, since 2020, to maintain clean oceans. Each year, our divers unite for a noble cause: to protect our oceans and marine life by annually removing underwater waste and harmful debris that could disrupt marine ecosystems.

Even though the recent amount collected was a lot, we acknowledge that there are still substantial amounts of ghost nets lurking beneath the waves. Ghost nets, which are discarded fishing nets, pose a significant threat to marine ecosystems as they entangle marine creatures and damage coral reefs.

Yinson remains steadfast in its dedication to preserving marine life and habitats. We aim to collectively remove even more ghost nets, thereby making a positive impact on our oceans.
