Yinson Production Ghana has formally handed over a newly constructed science laboratory to the Salvation Army School in Dixcove, in the Western Region of Ghana. The facility has been developed as a shared educational resource for junior high schools within the community.
The laboratory is equipped to support physics, chemistry and biology instruction, with complete sets of practical apparatus and teaching aids. The supporting infrastructure includes air-conditioning, ventilation systems and projection facilities to create a functional and conducive learning environment.
Through our annual STEM programme for young girls, which engages around 500 participants each year, one message came through clearly: many students were learning scientific concepts without hands-on access to laboratory equipment. This project is a direct response to that need.
The science laboratory forms part of Yinson Production Ghana’s broader long-term community investment in Ahanta West Municipality. Previous initiatives include the establishment of computer laboratories across municipal school circuits, scholarship support for senior high and tertiary students, and the development of a welding training centre at Takoradi Technical Institute with annual provision of welding materials.
The laboratory was built as a shared asset to encourage collaborative use. Its effectiveness will depend on responsible stewardship by school leadership, educators and students, supported by the wider community.
Through targeted investments in education and skills development, Yinson Production Ghana seeks to strengthen local capacity in a sustainable and measurable manner.
