Yinson Production West Africa Limited has selected the second batch of students for the Group’s scholarship programme, the Yinson Scholars Programme in Ghana recently. The students were handpicked from six different schools around Yinson Ghana’s operations base in Kejebril near Takoradi.

Through the scholarship, the selected students, who came from low-income households, will be provided with financial support throughout their three-year Senior High School (SHS) education. As part of the financial aid, each student will receive the following:

– a trunk,
– a chop box,
– a pillow,
– a mattress,
– a school bag,
– a pair of shoes,
– a calculator,
– textbooks,
– exercise books,
– provisions, and
– a monthly stipend.

A small ceremony was held at our Ghana office on 17th March to handover these items to the students. In attendance were elders from the communities, proud parents, the selected students themselves and representatives from Yinson.

Edward Mensah, Local Content and CSR Coordinator at Yinson advised the students to take advantage of the opportunity given them and study very hard. He added that Yinson Production will continue to support them if they do very well in their grades.

Cecilia Nyame, a parent on behalf of the other parents thanked Yinson for the kind gesture and promised that they will encourage the children to excel in their studies.

Initiated as part of Yinson’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, the programme was launched in September 2019 and benefits underprivileged students in Yinson’s host communities near Apowa, Kejabil and Pretea in the Western Region of Ghana.
