The fifth Yinson Production Ghana Spelling Bee Competition concluded with new champions receiving scholarships, tablets and educational materials in recognition of their achievements.

Organised in partnership with the Ghana Education Service and the Ahanta West Municipality, the finals brought together 35 students from 25 schools. Participants competed at the Primary and Junior High School levels, demonstrating their spelling, reading and literacy skills.

This year, Yinson Production Ghana expanded its scholarship award from two to four Junior High School students. The male and female champions and first runners-up will receive support throughout their Senior High School education, with the possibility of an extension to their undergraduate studies, subject to academic performance.

The winners also received plaques, certificates, tablets, textbooks and exercise books. Ghanaian author and academic quiz mistress Samelia Bawumia led the competition, while participating schools formed cheer groups to support their contestants.

As part of the programme, Yinson Production Ghana donated additional textbooks, novels, dictionaries and other learning materials to the Kejabil Library. Built by the company in 2020, the library has received more than 2,500 donated books to date.

The Spelling Bee forms part of Yinson Production Ghana’s broader commitment to strengthening literacy and expanding access to quality education within its host communities.
