Yinson Renewables’ subsidiary, Inecosolar, recently embarked on a two-day trip dedicated to making positive environmental impact together with NGOs Sungai Watch and the Indonesia Biru Foundation.
On the first day, the team collaborated with Sungai Watch, an NGO dedicated to combating plastic pollution in Indonesia’s rivers, to combat against plastic pollution at Beraban, a scenic yet pollution-affected area in Tabanan, Bali. The team spent four hours collecting and sorting trash from the riverbank. Floating barriers were also installed by Sungai Watch to capture waste and preventing it from reaching the ocean. The overall collection amassed to a total of 604.28 kg of trash, equivalent to 145 bags.
The second day continued with a unique coral crafting workshop in partnership with Indonesia Biru Foundation. Known for its commitment to marine conservation, the foundation collaborates with local communities to preserve Indonesia’s coral reefs in Lombok, an integral part of the Coral Triangle’s biodiversity. The team crafted a total of 12 coral potteries with an average of four coral pieces planted per pottery.
The hands-on experience was both enlightening and fulfilling, giving each team member the chance to directly contribute to the protection of Bali’s rivers and oceans, while deepening their understanding of the importance of community-driven environmental initiatives.
